My partner and I have used multiple deliveries over the past month and, for the most part, have had excellent experiences with professional and reliable couriers. However, on one occasion, our delivery service was far below acceptable standards, resulting in significant damage to our couch. The couch was previously in pristine condition, without a single mark. Given that it needed to be carried down three flights of stairs, we hired two movers through Shipley. In contrast to when my partner and a friend carefully carried it upstairs without any damage, these two individuals were careless and rough in handling our belongings. They complained throughout the process, scratched both the couch and the walls, and displayed a complete lack of professionalism. Out of concern that they were underpaid and this might have contributed to their attitude, my partner gave them an additional £10. Unfortunately, they misinterpreted this as a tip and took it as validation of a job well done. Upon returning home, I was shocked to find my couch covered in scratches. When I reached out to them, they outright denied responsibility and falsely claimed the damage was pre-existing, even using the £10 gesture as supposed proof that they had done a satisfactory job—stating, "Why would your husband give us a tip if he was not happy?" These individuals should not be entrusted with handling people’s possessions. Their lack of care, poor attitude, and unwillingness to take responsibility make them completely unsuitable for this line of work. I would appreciate Shipley reviewing this matter seriously to prevent further customers from experiencing similar issues.
